Royal Caribbean Mariner of the Seas

We are so amazed on how big this Royal Caribbean Mariner of the Seas. It is a 15-decker cruise ship with 4 pools, 6 whirlpools, casino, spa, gym, restaurants, cafe, promenade, rock-climbing wall, mini-golf course, basketball court, jogging and in-line skating tracks and theater. Wow! That's huge ... but did it give us more memorable experience compared to Superstar Gemini?

BOARDING EXPERINCE

Royal Caribbean's pier is located near Marina South Pier MRT Station.  If you are coming from Changi Airport, there is mrt station there where you can ride to reach Marina South Pier MRT Station. In the picture above, the encircled stations shows the route we took to reach the pier.

From Marina South Pier MRT station, we walked roughly around 20-15 minutes to reach the Royal Caribbean's pier. Since Mariner of the Seas is an enormous cruise ship, it can accommodate thousands of people and when it can board many people, expect very long queue and hours of waiting so you could get inside the ship. For us, it took us more than 3 hours just to board the ship.

Compared to Starcruise, we had fast and convenient boarding experience.

FOOD

Right after we board the ship, we went straight to Windjammer, one of the ship's restaurant. It is a buffet restaurant and we are so delighted because it serves a wide range of food selection. Chines, Western, Japanese, Indian and Korean cuisine are available. Its also nice to see they have plenty of fresh fruits in their selections and delicious desserts.

Main Dining Room is a multilevel fine dining. Even it is the ship's grandest restaurant, it is complimentary. This is where you will get the special treatment from the waiters assigned to your table. You could also even request for your favorite menu as long as they have the ingredients to cook it for you.

Cafe Promenade is another notable place to have your snacks and enjoy drinking coffee. Burgers, cookies, pizzas and desserts are available for free here.

In terms of food, Royal Caribbean have the quantity. Food is available almost everywhere and anytime which Starcruise don't have. In terms of quality of food, RC is still better though starcruise's fine dining experience is way above RC. Starcruise's Bella Vista food is way far delicious compared to Main Dining Room of Royal Caribbean.

STRIP MALL

If you are looking for street parties, this ship have it! Promenade section is where the Captain's Night is held. It is night party where everyone dances with their formal attire with offcourse the Captain of the ship. On the last day of the cruise, its an all day music and dancing.

Promenade is like the mini strip mall of the ship. Most shops here are selling watches, jewelries and perfumes. It is best to wait for the Sale event if you want to buy watches. During the Sale event, prices are reduced up to 40% on a limited/scheduled time only.

Starcruise don't have indoor strip mall.

RECREATIONAL FACILITIES

Enjoying the pool is one of the activities we are always looking when having a vacation. Royal Caribbean did not disappoint us. 4 pools and 6 whirlpools is a lot. Another good feature is gigantic screen where you could watch movies while relaxing over the whirlpool. Though one thing that starcruise have that Royal Caribbean is missing, they don't have kiddie pool.

Aside from swimming... gym, rock-climbing wall, mini-golf course, basketball court, jogging and in-line skating tracks are other sports activities you can do in this ship to keep you fit and busy.

 INTERIORS

Royal Caribbean has amazing interiors. One cool feature is the glass elevators which allows you to have a good aerial view of the Promenade. Grand staircase in the Main Dining room is also a highlight feature of the ship. We also noticed that facilities are well maintained. We see them cleaning most of the time which we don't see in oftenly done in starcruise.

Overall, we had a spectacular cruise experience in Royal Caribbean Mariner of the Seas. A sea vacation at its finest.
